Energy prices reducing at last

If you have been watching the news recently, you will know there has been much debate about the price of oil dropping, and the corresponding impact this could have on the economy.

 

However, many are complaining that although petrol prices have fallen, electricity and gas prices haven’t.  But the good news is our supply deals have reduced, some by as much as 20% over recent weeks. 

  

Energy suppliers generally buy gas and electricity at wholesale rates many months before they sell it, and supplies for this winter will have already been purchased and paid for at the higher wholesale rates in place a few months ago.

 

So even if wholesale costs continue to drop, it could be well into the New Year before certain energy providers are able to pass on the price reductions.
