Are you committed to a contract you know nothing about?Does the above question sound ridiculous? Here’s two more in the same vein:
Are you under contract to a supplier who you have never met to discuss the services they offer?
Are you being charged prices for essential supplies that were never agreed face to face, and which will be held for up to three years?
These all might seem unlikely scenarios - but in reality many businesses are in that position, and are totally unaware of it.
This situation is created by energy companies who hold thousands of unsuspecting businesses to ransom every year through tying them into contracts by “rolling” them over on the contract anniversary date, often at uncompetitive tariffs. We have dealt with dozens of companies who categorically assured us that they were not in contract ……….. only to find that they were!
It is very easy to lose sight of “rolling contracts” that may have been in force for a number of years, and miss the opportunity to get a better deal when the existing contract is due for renewal.
Although the energy companies must send a notification letter when increasing prices, when it arrives many people just put the letter to one side, and use the excuse that it’s not an issue that needs to be dealt with straight away.
Also, as the wording in the letter often suggests that they don’t have to do anything and just let the contract carry on, many people do just that.
But be warned – if an energy company tells you that “you don’t have to do anything”, this should be a warning to do the exact opposite!
To avoid being caught out by your energy provider, contact us here at Spiral. We can help you clarify the situation regarding your contracts, and we will diarise anniversary dates in future, and send reminder notes to you well in advance.
We are approved partners of many major suppliers including Npower, Powergen, E-On, Scottish Power, E4B, Opus Energy and Total Energy among others, which gives us the capability to source quotes for a single supply, and offer a range of contract terms.
This is a free, stand alone and no obligation service that we now offer to anyone – all you need to do is fax us your last two energy bills and we will carry out an initial review. If you have received a letter offering new prices, send that over urgently, as you may only have a short time to respond.
It won’t take you long to look out past bills or correspondence and send them over to us, and it could save you money in the long term. So look them out and send them over – and let us help you save money on your energy bills.
