When did you last check your water rates bills?
When the bill for your company’s water rates charges arrives, do you ever stop and wonder if it’s correct?
And even if you suspected it wasn’t – how would you know what you should be getting charged?
It’s a common misconception that the chances of saving money on the amount you pay on water rates are limited, or that there is little point in spending time trying to challenge the amount you pay, as this is not always the case.
Many companies are unaware that they may be paying too much for their water supply, and many of the problems associated with incorrect billing go unnoticed.
Also, if a business is unaware they are being overcharged for services such as sewage treatment or drainage, then there is little chance of the problem ever being rectified.
While an electricity or gas bill might get challenged if the charges have risen, the same level of diligence often isn’t applied to challenging water companies, which is why instances of overcharging are becoming more common.
With businesses paying significantly more for water and sewerage services since privatisation, it is more important now than ever before to ensure that the water bills you receive for your company’s usage are correct. And, if you are spending in excess of £10,000 a year on water charges, or if you have never had your drainage charges checked, then Spiral may be able to help you reduce your costs.
We have a specialist team who are aware of the legislation surrounding water rates charges and can assist in checking if the correct charges are being applied.
Any cases we take on would be on a ‘share of savings’ basis, with charges being applied retrospectively based on a share of the total savings achieved.
This fee structure means there is nothing to be lost by having your water rates bills checked independently, and potentially there is a lot to be gained.
