Are you guilty of neglect?2007 saw UK web sales in excess of £160 billion with a 25% increase on the previous year. But a recent survey of SMEs shows 23% of sites had not been updated since launch, and the average age of a website was four years old.
SMEs who are not managing, updating and promoting their website are neglecting a huge and continually growing customer base. Obsolete and outdated content can be confusing to the site visitor, and will make the company look disorganised and unprofessional.
Other statistics to come from the survey showed that a staggering 38% of companies had no budget at all for regular updates to their websites. Ironically, when asked what they wanted from their websites, a majority said they wanted to increase sales.
When implemented correctly and incorporated into an SME’s corporate strategy, the website will increase the relationship and retention of existing customers, influence sales, reduce operating costs and increase profits overall.
Every day around 21 million people log in, some 72% of which are regularly using the Internet to purchase goods or services. It's time for the average SME to wake up to the fact that the Internet is a viable and lucrative revenue stream, not to be neglected.
With this in mind, Spiral's preferred web designer Strike Designs has made a special offer available to all subscribers to the Spiral newsletter.
Strike Designs will offer £600 cashback on the design and development of any website built on their Fusion Content Management system.
Designed for SMEs to regularly and easily update their site, Fusion has been developed to be the central mechanism to implement an on-line strategy - whether for on-line CRM, email campaigns, on-line purchases or simply regularly updating an audience with up to the minute changes and progress of your business.
The offer is only valid on quotations made before May 16th 2008.
