The safe way is the right way

Every business owner is aware of the need to ensure that their employees are working in a safe and secure environment.

But do you know what you must do by law to comply with Health and Safety regulations?  Take a look at this list:

  • Any business with five or more employees must have, and implement, a written Health and Safety policy.
  • Businesses must assess the risks associated with work activities and, if they have five or more employees, record the findings.
  • Employees must be consulted on Health and Safety matters.
  • The employer must provide Health and Safety training for employees.
  • The employer must carry out a Fire Risk Assessment each year.
  • First aid equipment must be available in all workplaces, and there must be a nominated person responsible for checking and maintaining the equipment.

Any company that does not have a dedicated Health & Safety person within the organisation could run the risk of failing to meet the required standards set down by the HSE.  After all, to implement the necessary procedures takes time, commitment, experience and knowledge.

If you are concerned that your company’s Health and Safety procedures may not be up to scratch, then one of Spiral’s preferred suppliers can help.

The Parr Group are specialists in all aspects of Health & Safety, and can assist with tasks such as writing Health & Safety policies, and carrying out audits, accident investigations and Fire Risk Assessments.

They also offer manual handling courses, and can provide advice and guidance on issues such as office layout, the set up of employee work stations, disabled access to your premises, and general consultancy aimed at ensuring that your office or factory floor is a safe working environment for your employees.
